AMAZING GRACE
French Oak Barrel-aged Abbey Ale, 8% ABV
From the barrel room comes this oak aged specialty release. Every so often we receive French Oak barrels that previously held red wine. If our brewers have extra time (and beer) they have been known to age some of our Lost and Found Abbey Ale in these barrels. Amazing Grace shows hints of soft oak tannins and light vanilla notes from the oak barrels. A subtle dash of red wine character from the aging process reveals itself if there is served at cellar temperature and compliments the toasted malt character of the base beer.

BRANDY ANGEL’S SHARE
Barrel-Aged English Style Barleywine, 12.5% ABV
Down in Kentucky and across the pond in Scotland, distillers who age their whiskeys for many years refer to the evaporation of the spirits from their barrels as “The Angel’s Share.” We couldn’t agree more. Each time a barrel is filled, a measure of liquid seeps into the oak and is lost for good. This striking Strong Ale is brewed with copious amounts of Caramel malt to emphasize the vanilla and oak flavors found in freshly emptied brandy barrels. The beer spends a year in oak before it is packaged for release.
There are so many aspects at work in this beer. We have an inital impression from the oak aging of fortified wine and Port. There is a pleasing vanilla backdrop supported by some great sweet malt notes. An incredibly smooth and sweet beer with a long lasting finish. The Bourbon barrel aging of the beer results in a full bodied and luscious texture layered between fruit and malts.

CUVEE DE TOMME
American Wild Ale aged in French Oak, Bourbon, and Brandy Barrels with Sour Cherries, 12% ABV
Once upon a time it was the most award winning Pizza Port beer of all time. Now it has found a new home at The Lost Abbey. A massive brown ale base that is made from four fermentable sugars including malted barley, raisins, candi sugar and sour cherries; this beer is fully fermented before being placed in wine, bourbon, and brandy barrels where the beer ages for one year with sour cherries and the wild Brettanomyces yeast.

FRAMBOISE DE AMOROSA
Barrel-aged Raspberry Sour Ale, 8.5% ABV
Framboise de Amorosa is our first foray into the world of raspberry beers. It begins as Lost and Found ale and is sent into freshly emptied red wine barrels. The beer spends over a year in the wood during which time it is spiked with three additions of raspberries. The first sip produces a sweet start with a long drawn out sour finish. So of the sweetnewss from the raspberries comes out before acidic notes join the mix. On the back end of the beer is a smoothing oak character which keeps the beer from becoming dull.

RED POPPY
Flanders Red Ale, 6% ABV
Red Poppy Ale is a veritable celebration of Sour Cherries in an explosion of aromas and tastes. Brewed from a brown ale base and aged in our oak barrels for over 6 months, this beer is not for the faint of heart. The Golden Poppy is the state flower of California and the Red Poppy is found in Flanders Fields where our inspiration for this beer comes from.

SANTO RON DIEGO
Rum Barrel-aged Ale with Spices, 12.5%
ABV The first beer to be barrel-aged in rum barrels released by The Lost Abbey, Santo Ron Diego began as a strong ale brewed dark candi syrup and Spices before it made its way in to the rum barrels in early 2013. Initial aroma’s of sweet rum, cocoa with hints of vanilla and orange peel. The journey begins with flavors of ginger, brown sugar and spiced rum throughout with a drying black pepper finish.
