DEVOTION

Belgian-style Dry-hopped Blonde Ale, 6% ABV

It’s an unassuming road leading to the priory. Here, off the corner of two intersecting roads, dedicated monks have been making beer for over 150 years. It’s always been a simple life — the kind that requires they brew only enough to sustain the activities of their monastery. In the silence of passing seasons, they pray, they brew and retire in solitary existence behind the sheltering walls. They live a most interesting life. Most likely one we couldn’t sustain.

Nearby, each summer, the trellised fields spring to life as rows of resinous green cones are trained toward the heavens. Rumor is some monks love these hops and being surrounded by budding yellow aromas and the leafy pungent fields inspired them. Since we aren’t sensible enough to locate our brewery near hop fields, we can only offer this blond ale in celebration of our Abbey brethren and their steadfast Devotion.

Formats: 12oz Bottle (6-packs), 1/2BBL Keg, 1/6BBL Keg

Aroma: Designed to be a hop driven beer, the aroma presents mostly European variety hops with underlying notes of fresh hay and grassy fields. There is a very low level of yeast phenols present and much of this is subtle spice come from the aromatic hops.

Taste: A lighter bodied beer that immediately makes an initial hop impression followed by a brief thinning layer of malt which is swallowed in the driest finish by a driven hop expression.

Taste: Abbey style beers often emphasize layers of malt surrounded by yeast driven complexities. Our Judgment Day ale is the result of lots of fermentables from malt, raisins, and dextrose. LOST & FOUND

Abbey Dubbel Ale brewed with Raisins, 8% ABV

Lost and Found- Modeled after the great Trappist and Monastic beers that inspired the founding of our brewery. A richly deep garnet colored ale created from a blend of Domestic and imported malts. As part of our commitment to interesting brewing endeavors, Chef Vince created a special raisin puree for this beer. Malts, raisins and a fantastic yeast strain working in harmony produce a beer of amazing complexity and depth.

Availability: Year Around

Formats: 750ml Bottle, 1/2BBL Keg, 1/6BBL Keg

Aroma: There are several layers at work in the nose of this beer. At first we get a hint of fruit mostly in the form of banana and some gum like esters. There is also a bit of light cocoa aromatics from the malt and raisins at play here.

Taste: Abbey style beers often emphasize layers of malt surrounded by yeast driven complexities. Our Lost and Found Abbey Ale is the result of the judicious, but not overpowering, use of crystal malts with a teasingly dry chocolate malt finish. There is a perception of warmth from the alcohol which blends very nicely keeping the malts from being too sweet.

RED BARN

Saison Ale with Ginger and Spices, 7.5% ABV

Availability: Year Around

Formats: 750ml Bottle, 1/2BBL Keg, 1/6BBL Keg

Special Ingredients: Organic Ginger, Black Pepper, Orange Peel, Grains of Paradise

Aroma: One of the most aromatic beers we make. It’s rooted in an explosion of spices (notably the Ginger and Orange Peel) which are partnered with the phenols from our Saison yeast. The nose of the beer is overwhelmingly spicy and fruity from the spice additions.

Taste: The first sip always begins with a sweet malt expression that is immediately overwhelmed by the yeast flavors and peppery spices that we have employed. As the beer fades, a slight tartness pervades and develops in a slightly acidic finish making the beer that much more refreshing.
